David Ball is Managing Partner of the Food, Beverage, and Nutrition Ingredients Practice at Sterling Partners USA. Sterling is a boutique recruiting and consulting firm focused on mainstream industry verticals, and David is responsible for Sterling’s high tech/high value Food and Nutrition Ingredient business.
His team of industry focused recruiters and project researchers have significant industry experience as well.
David is an industry-educated search professional who has built a highly successful recruiting and consulting practice in the high-tech food and nutrition ingredient industry, a bright spot for growth in the next 10-15 years.
He has over 29 years of experience in technical sales, marketing and leadership positions for major companies in key process industries and technologies, including food processing, food ingredients, fats & oils (including Omega-3 & algal oils), oleo-chemicals, algal bioenergy, phytosterols, flavors & fragrances, biopolymers, protein isolates and others.
Before joining Sterling Partners, David started his food ingredient technology recruiting practice in 2004 at Management Recruiters – MRI Network, the country’s largest search firm.
Over the next 4 years, he and his search team turned that business into a major industry player, being one of the few executive recruiters totally dedicated to “high value/high technology” food ingredient markets.
In 2007 at MRI Network, David was ranked in the top 5% of all recruiters nationally.
From 1980 to 1999, David was Director of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development at the Oil-Dri Corporation of America, a leading supplier of technology to the edible oils and edible protein segments.
There he helped grow the company from annual sales of $40 million to sales of almost $300 million in just 10 years. Earlier, David also spent 10 years in progressive sales and market management positions in agro-biotechnology markets with Eli Lilly & Company. (now Dow AgroSciences, LLC.)
David’s clients today include many of the leading suppliers of major “healthy” oils and fatty acids, lipid based nutrition, protein isolates for human consumption, and other functional products in the “Good For You” arena.
David is a long time member/affiliate of the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS), the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the Soy Protein Council and others.
David holds a BS degree from Mississippi State University in Forest Resources, 1980.
He is an Eagle Scout and continues today in national leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America.
He considers himself a “people scientist” and has a real passion for working in people related businesses. David is married with one son, and lives in Atlanta, Georgia USA. |
